Improving Queue Management at Stonehenge

As one of the UK’s most visited and best-loved tourist attractions, Stonehenge is no stranger to queues. With thousands of visitors passing through each day, effective queue management is essential. While waiting is often unavoidable, at Q Barriers our focus is on making the experience as smooth, orderly and stress-free as possible, helping venues deliver a better first impression from the moment guests arrive.

Stonehenge was experiencing particular challenges at its main entrance, where high visitor volumes were leading to exceptionally busy and disorganised queues. This not only created confusion but also detracted from the overall visitor experience at a world-class heritage site.

To address the issue we installed our Rollersigns with bespoke oak posts, carefully designed to complement the surroundings while clearly dividing the entrance into two well-defined, managed queues. The solution provided clear guidance for visitors, improved flow and reduced congestion at peak times.

The results were immediate. Queues became more orderly, staff intervention was reduced, and visitor feedback was overwhelmingly positive. This project demonstrates how thoughtful queue design, combined with high quality solutions, can significantly enhance customer experience, even at the UK’s busiest attractions.
